Just wanted to share the install pics from today. I have read in other threads that it wasn't advisable to use the LTR shocks in conjunction with a lift. Since I had just purchased my lift a week ago, I wasn't ready to part with it just yet. So, anyways I found a set of Suzuki LTR 450 shocks online. I removed the front wheels just for convenience sake, then the factory shocks. Placing the shock in the lower mount, I noticed that the bottom of the shock would come into contact with the control arm. A grinder equipped with a sanding disc took care of that. Be careful not to overheat the shock bearing or worse. After that it was very obvious that the shock was considerably longer than the stocker. The lift didn't help any, as it moves the top mounting point outward. Without a lift it may just go in, no problem. I on the other hand, had a problem. A ratchet strap and a couple of soft ties later, I was able to compress the spring and push down on the top of the shock getting it onto position so that I could put the top bolt through. Unable to find time at work to make any spacers, I just used a couple of thick washers, both top and bottom to make up the distance of the much narrower shock bearings, versus rubber bushing of the stock unit. I think it was three on each side at the bottom and two at the top on each side. I backed the shock spring all the way off when I was trying to compress it. After lowering the rzr and placing the weight of the vehicle on the suspension, I noticed it really didn't need any more preload, so I locked it down with just 2-3 threads on top of the lock ring.
That's it really. Kinda easy install, with the exception of compressing the spring with a redneck spring compressor.
