As the title says, my 2012 800 dumped a rod through the block at the crank sensor with 1377 miles on it yesterday.
I was running alongside my friend on flat ground and it made a hellacious pop and it died. I knew immediately what had happened, but I can't wrap my head around it, and it has me very uneasy about my future with this machine as an owner.
I just picked it up at last month and made my first payment on it July 5. Right now it's not looking like an affordable fix.
Does anyone have any good leads on a used motor? I don't want to drop $2,000 on one and get hosed. The case is trashed, and it looks like a piece of the cam is laying on the bottom so I'm sure it took out the balance shaft, rods crank etc.
I washed it up good and plan on pulling the motor this week to further assess the damage. Right now I'm disgusted, the machine was well taken care of and serviced regularly. The guy I bought it from didn't ride it hard and when it broke I wasn't doing anything stupid. We were "racing" on open ground from a dig, it didn't over rev or anything crazy. I took off and went about 200 feet and shit hit the fan quick.
