I'm going on a ride to Hatfield McCoy in WV the 27th and 28th, so I'm in prepare mode. I took the front wheels off to shake out the front end and put grease in the grease fittings when I noticed what I think is a bad upper ball joint. With no wheel and no weight on the hub it moves back and forth on the ball joint stem about 1/8". I tried tightening up the bolt in the back and that was no help.
I'm not use to these kinds of ball joints, I've only worked on Honda ATV's for the most part, so that is why I may be proposing a dumb question. Is it supposed to be that loose or does it need replaced? With weight pushing from the bottom it's not loose at all. Only when the wheel is off and the front end is up in the air on the jack. Any useful input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
